Students will have the opportunity to sell to family and close family friends; we encourage everyone to maintain their social distance from others as the health guidelines suggest. Each box of cookie dough costs $10, and the grade level that sells the most cookie dough boxes will be rewarded with an ice cream social. Other rewards available to the top five sellers include a choice of: principal for an hour, assistant principal for an hour, and various gift cards. For every ten boxes any student sells, he or she will get a free box of cookie dough. Checks or cash will be accepted (please make checks out to Rochelle ISD). We have been told that these boxes should be delivered before we leave for Christmas break. Of course, that is subject to change given the circumstances.

Our Homecoming Pep Rally is still on for this evening! We have had to change our plans with the weather forecast calling for more rain this afternoon and evening. Our plan now is to have the students in the band play from the cafeteria while the football players and cheerleaders are in the new gym. We will broadcast each venue to the other so that the students can see each other. Parents and immediate family members (brothers and sisters) are welcome to join us this evening - football and cheerleader parents in the new gym and band family members in the cafeteria. We have called down the students involved in the pep rally this evening and asked them how many immediate family members would come watch tonight; we have just enough space to accommodate all of our cheerleader and football immediate family members in the new gym and for our band member's immediate family members in the cafeteria. Our space continues to remain limited per local and state orders; masks, too, are required and must be worn at all times by guests. For those wanting to watch our Homecoming Pep Rally, we will stream it on https://www.facebook.com/rochelle.isd starting at 6:30pm.
With this afternoon's forecast of additional (and appreciated) rain, we will keep our elementary students inside the building at the end of the day. Faculty/Staff members will be outside to greet you and help get your children to your vehicle. We have been working on a modification to our pick up procedures - pick up will occur at the elementary entrance (as shown in the photo) instead of the tennis courts.
We have a super busy Homecoming Week @ RochelleISD. We opened today dressed in American spirit-wear. Tonight is Volleyball with JV starting at 5pm; senior night is tonight too (starting at 4:40)! Tomorrow evening is the Homecoming Pep-Rally; we plan on having it outside the new gym (guests should stay in their car during the event or guests can sit right outside of their cars in lawn-chairs but must have a mask on). If it is raining, we will move the Pep-Rally to under the Tabernacle at the Baptist church (visitors will need to watch from their vehicles only). Thursday night is the first junior high football game of the season and starts at 6PM at Hornet Stadium. To close our week, the Homecoming football game begins at 7:30pm on Friday against Brookesmith; Homecoming festivities are scheduled to take place at 6:45pm Friday evening. As was shared last week, visitors (parents, guests, and non-participating students) must not enter the football field before, during, or after the game, and all visitors must leave the campus directly following the conclusion of the game. Go Hornets! #ChooseRochelle

Players were interviewed and based on the information given some players have been quarantined due to Texas Department of Health requirements. Any parent with any questions about their child can contact the school at 325-243-5224. This has been a very difficult decision to make so this post will not support negative comments. Hello 5th Grade Band parents, Due to an unforseen circumstances, I will have to postpone instrument auditions today. My hope is to get them done by the end of the week. I am very proud of each of you so far! Thank you! Mr Miranda
Rochelle ISD has made a very difficult decision to cancel meet the Hornets. After meeting with Region 15 and Health Department epidemiologist I have decided for the safety of our community, children, faculty that we will not have “Meet the Hornets”. This contradicts what was posted previously and I know that many of us are getting tired of COVID and the impact it has had on our lives, however, I am not willing to risk our school and the education of our children. This is a very difficult decision that has to be made so this post will not support negative comments. If you would like to add supportive comments that would be appreciated all negative information will be removed. For Further concerns or if you would like to know more you can contact Dave Lewis at 325-243-5224 or 325-456-1086 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for the understanding and supporting of Rochelle ISD. #ChooseRochelle

Hornet Nation: Rochelle ISD will be hosting Meet the Hornets next Thursday, August 20th, starting at 6:30. This year's event will, of course, look different from prior years - we will not be able to have an ice cream or hot-dog social and we will need to maintain our social distance throughout the event. Coach Cherry and the football team will be accepting white-towel donations at the field house during the event. In order to help keep an appropriate social distance, we will be calling out students by groups - PeeWee football players and cheerleaders will be first starting at 6:30. Students MUST remain with their families until their activity is called. Each student will run through our tunnel and will head to the home-side fence for a small group photo. Each organization will be represented and have an opportunity to run through the tunnel; students will take photos with their teams. Once a student has had their picture taken with their team, they MUST return to wherever their parents are seated. Sadly, given the circumstances, we will not be able to take our traditional campus-wide photo. This event is open to parents of participating students only - we are only allowed a specific number of individuals on our field. PeeWee parents (elementary parents) will sit in the visitor stands and middle school and high school parents will sit on the home side. Masks are required per UIL guidelines and individual families must be grouped and must maintain an acceptable social distance from other families.

What a great day to be a Hornet. We change the game plan and our Hornets do not miss a beat. You have to wear a mask!! Oh no!! Man our kids rock. They put on a mask head to school and continue to be the best I could ask for. Way to go Rochelle ISD students!! #chooserochelle
Rochelle ISD is hosting coffee in the morning every Thursday starting tomorrow. We will open up at 7:30 until the Java and jokes are gone. Check in at the office. Bring a mask. We will have the coffee.
HS volleyball parents: I know Saturday’s scrimmage at TLCA is closed to fans but wanted to let you know the time has been moved up. We will play @10am now and will be leaving Rochelle @ 8am. Thank you - Coach McGann
Mask are required for 4th graders and up. Sorry that was not clarified.
Rochelle ISD has begun to modify our actions and activities in school due to close contact with an individual that has tested positive for COVID-19. At this time, no student or staff member has tested positive, and all changes are exclusively precautionary and under the direction and guidance provided by TEA. A Rochelle student's parent has tested positive for COVID-19 and a teacher was in close contact with an individual that has tested positive (that contact was within two days of the individual showing symptoms). According to TEA, anyone in direct contact with a lab-tested positive individual is to be quarantined for 14 days. That teacher will continue to provide instruction remotely while staff members monitor that teacher’s classes. The safety of all Rochelle students and staff members remains our main concern, so starting Wednesday, August 5th, all faculty and students will be required to wear masks while at school when social distancing is not practiced or able to be practiced. For example, if a child is at their desk, he or she can remove his or her mask; when they get up to sharpen a pencil, go to the restroom, or line up for lunch, they will need to have their mask on. If your child has a mask, he or she can wear it to school. The school has a limited supply of reusable and disposable masks that can be given out. When supplies are gone, students will be responsible for their own masks. For classroom procedures, parents can contact their child's teacher. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Dave Lewis at email@example.com or call 325-243-5224 or 325-456-1086.
This just in from Mr. Holubec: Rochelle Family, Thank you for bearing with us in this new school year. With the challenges that Covid-19 poses, we continue to make student safety our top priority. As the days progress, we will continually monitor and adjust our procedures, where needed, to make the school days as normal as possible and run as smooth as possible. With this in mind, we are going to tweak the after school pick up process. Starting today, all car riders will be pickup at one location, where the elementary students were picked up yesterday (outside the tennis courts). This should help to alleviate some of the congestion and help the flow of traffic. Please remember to stay in your vehicles during the pickup process. On another note, David Baker asked me to share the morning bus stop schedule. The first bus will leave the bus stop at 7:20 while the second bus will arrive approximately at 7:20. The Second bus will leave the bus stop at 7:30. Again thank you for your patience as we continue to adjust to our new year. Cody Holubec Assistant Principal Rochelle ISD

The Student Handbook can be found at this link and we encourage all community members to reference this as needed: https://5il.co/giqv
Rochelle ISD has worked to refine our plan for the Fall 2020 - here's a quick link: https://5il.co/io7b. Plans for a Virtual Meet the Teacher will be posted soon. Our plan is to still host a Meet the Teacher on Thursday starting at 6PM, but we have decided to do so virtually. More details will be posted by tomorrow evening as we get details fine-tuned. Thanks to everyone that has come out to register their students. #ChooseRochelle
Registration at #ChooseRochelle continues this evening from 5pm to 7pm in the Rochelle ISD Cafeteria. All families must bring a water bill, electricity bill, or other similar document to determine residency. Students and families new to the district will need to bring their student’s social security card, the student’s birth certificate, immunization records, and a parent ID. We will be practicing social distancing in our cafeteria and have worked to make the registration process as simple and quick as possible. We will have someone at the cafeteria door to help direct traffic; we hope that our streamlined processes minimize wait times in the event we reach capacity in the cafeteria.
Rochelle ISD has submitted our plan for this fall to TEA for approval - here's a link to that plan: https://5il.co/il7u. Please know that this plan is subject to change depending on approval from TEA.
